However, if you live in a listed building, conservation area or AONB, additional permissions may be required. Our team manages the entire planning process on your behalf, including the preparation of detailed drawings and liaison with local authorities.
This largely depends on the type of roof you choose. Conservatories with traditional glazed roofs are usually exempt from building regulations, provided they meet certain criteria such as being separated from the main house by external-quality doors. However, conservatories with solid or tiled roofs are generally classed as extensions and therefore require building regulations approval. Our team will advise you on the requirements for your specific project and handle the approval process from start to finish.
We craft our conservatories using premium-grade hardwoods, primarily Oak, Sapele, Idigbo and Accoya. Each timber offers its own unique character, from the rich grain of Oak to the warm, honey tones of Idigbo and the exceptional stability of Accoya. We can also source specialist timbers such as European Redwood and Cedar upon request for projects with specific aesthetic or performance requirements. All our timber is sustainably sourced and carefully selected for quality, beauty and structural integrity.
We offer several roofing options for timber conservatories. Traditional fully-glazed roofs provide maximum light transmission and are available with various glazing bar configurations. Traditional fully-glazed roofs maximise light and are available with a range of glazing bar configurations, giving that classic conservatory look with clean sightlines.
Hybrid roof systems combine insulated solid panels with glazed sections, balancing natural light with improved thermal performance. This is the preferred choice for year-round rooms.
Solid tiled roofs offer the highest insulation values and the most room-like feel internally. They pair well with roof lanterns, which channel daylight into the centre of the space without the glare issues associated with fully glazed roofs.
